She is more strange than sexy, and Madonna’s Super Bowl halftime show is only further evidence.
Her pulsating Super Bowl halftime show – with flashing lights, billowing smoke, dancing nuns and a marching band — proved again that she’s unique, if nothing else.
Does anyone really like Madonna? She’s more like an entertaining freak show. Yea, she captures our attention, but I couldn’t take any more of her oddball schtick. The NFL gave her 14 minutes, and that was plenty.
The weirdest moment of the extravaganza, which featured a cast of hundreds? Hard to say. Maybe Madonna waving gold pom-poms. Maybe a white-clad male gymnast dancing on a tight wire. Maybe a procession of sword-wielding gladiators.
Who dreamed up these jarring visual images, set to a medley of Madonna’s hit songs over the past three decades?
I’ll say this: Madonna can still dance. She’s my age, 53, and she moved like a teenager in her thigh-high black leather boots. Who knows what her face looks like? Tons of makeup and distant camera angles didn’t give us a clue.
The signature line from her performance: “I’m sexy and I know it.”
Yes, Madonna, you’re sexy. But you’re also strange.
Reactions to Madonna Super Bowl Halftime Show
Reactions to Madonna’s show on Twitter varied. See below for a sampling. I’ve left out the most hateful ones. They’re mostly positive, which find a bit odd. Guess she has more fans out there than I thought.
