Fortunately, my son has never complained of being bullied. In fact, I’ve never heard him mention any bullying at his school (but he did get in a fight on the playground, apparently coming out victorious). We’re fortunate.
But for some kids and their parents, bullying is a painful reality. How should parents react? Here’s an article from Kids Health that gives some good tips.
“Sometimes it’s useful to approach the bully’s parents,” it says. “In other cases, teachers or counselors are the best ones to contact first. If you’ve tried those methods and still want to speak to the bullying child’s parents, it’s best to do so in a context where a school official, such as a counselor, can mediate.” The article has other useful advice too.
